Developmental Edits
Whether you're looking for help with plot, character development and motivations, or just want more in-depth feedback for your manuscript, then developmental editing may be for you.
I look for:
- plot and pacing (overall, chapter, and scene level)
- character development and consistency
- theme development and general impressions
With this service, you'll get in-line comments and reactions, a summary letter detailing strengths and main areas to work on, and the opportunity for a follow-up call for clarifying any questions (up to author discretion and my availability).
Price: $0.003 per word
Turnaround: 2-5 weeks
Copy Edits
This is the nitty gritty grammar edit, where I delve into sentence structure, syntax, readability, consistency, and clarity.
I look for:
- general grammar (commas, apostrophes, etc.)
- readability and clarity
- flow on a sentence/paragraph level
- stylistic consistency (Oxford comma, American vs. British spelling, alright vs. all right, etc.)
With this service, you'll get in-line comments and a one-page style guide. Also, I will respond to comments or questions while you work through implementing edits (within reason).
Price: $0.002 per word
Turnaround: 1-4 weeks
Proofreading
This is the final editing stage for your manuscript, after it's passed through copy editing. The manuscript should be as polished as possible. In this type of editing, I will look for any mistakes that could have made it through the previous rounds. Do not book for proofreading unless you have gone through copy edits.

Turnaround: 1-2 weeks
